Jogging for beginners

As the weather warms up – so does our inspiration to improve our fitness and get in shape.

Jogging/running is one of the ultimate methods of improving our fitness, but it can be a little daunting to get started.

Here is a simple plan to get you from walking to a run.

It uses interval training principles, so wont be as challenging as you think!

Aim to complete 5mins warm up (walking pace) then 15-20mins on interval jogging (aim for a manageable pace (think 5/10 for effort), then a 5min walking cooldown.

Intervals are displayed as (20 : 30), which means 20 seconds of jogging pace : followed by 30 seconds walking.

Interval jogging

The plan is flexible, so adapt it to your schedule and change the days around as you see fit – however keep the concept of slowly increasing the days per week of exercise, and the duration of the jogging interval.

If you start to feel sore or that it is overwhelming – just back off  and repeat the previous week, and then try to continue again.

Good luck!

Have fun in your health journey, and remember to stay true to yourself.
